Transitional Dressing: Faux Leather Tank Top and Silk Shorts

It's getting close to that time of year where you look in your closet and not exactly sure what to wear! The weather is still warm but because you are a trend setter, you want to dress for Fall. Wearing a leather tank top and a pair of silk shorts will keep you cool and is the perfect outfit to wear together or as separates. I like this look below for evening...make it more casual by pairing the leather tank with boyfriend jeans and wearing the shorts with a casual tee and flats. As the weather gets a bit colder, add fun tights and a cropped blazer.

The Best $25 Oxford Shirts in White and Denim

Lately I have been wearing white or denim shirts not only on their own, but as a layering piece instead of a light-weight jacket when dressing casually. I found these from Old Navy while shopping for my daughter Rachel's Thailand trip this summer. They look great and the price is right!

Old Navy Women's Oxford, $24.50. Shown here with a tank top by Zadig & Voltaire and pants by Ramy Brook.

Long and Below the Knee Dresses Can Make You Look Taller

Did you know that long dresses can make you look taller?  I am only 5'4 and used to be afraid to wear them because of my petite body type. I recently purchased a few of these dresses to change up my style a bit and realize that I actually look and feel taller in them. The trick is all in the shoes! It's very flattering if you go simple with the dress and wear it with a high wedge or platform shoe. For those lucky girls who are blessed with height, you can also sport this look with flat sandals. Always add fun accessories when wearing a solid color!

A long dress should be hemmed to fall about 1/4 inch from the floor creating one clean long line. Front of shoes should just peek out. Dress pictured here is by Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent (no longer available).

Always add a statement piece of jewelry when wearing solids. I am obsessed with this necklace by Dannijo. See my video interview with the sisters behind the amazing jewelry line here.

Stay chic and cool this summer and try a longer dress!
