The day before the Emmys I had the pleasure of spending part of my afternoon with Nicole Kidman, Global Brand Ambassador for Neutrogena. I quickly learned how Nicole has earned her reputation in Hollywood as the example of grace and elegance; not to mention talent! I was so happy for her that she won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in Big Little Lies. Having recently turned 50, Nicole paired up with Neutrogena for their Rapid Wrinkle Repair skincare line. It was such a honor to spend time with this beauty, and I have to admit I was more than excited to learn all of her skincare secrets! Read on for my interview with Nicole and to shop her favorite Neutrogena products.

Q&A WITH NICOLE KIDMAN

How have your personal views about aging changed? When I was a teenager I never thought about it. And then it becomes more about time. I want to look good, but it’s also about time. How much time do I have, because there are still so many things I want to do. And so it’s more for me about time and being healthy. The most important thing is health- because part of it is also just rallying and kind of cheerleading myself.

Do you think you're less stressed as you get older? Yes, because I'm determined to feel less stressed out. I notice it; I notice when I look different in my face- but you can also use products (that help). That's why when Neutrogena came to me, I was like, yes, this retinol actually works! And if I use a really strong Retin-A cream, I break out in red and my skin gets very dry. I can absolutely use this every night and feel like it’s helping my skin.

What age do you feel inside? I feel like I know that I have children who are 9 and 6, and I just go, "Ok, I’ve got to be able to get in there and do everything." And I’ve got a mother in Australia, so I’ve got to travel back to take care of her and be there for her...I think that’s the other thing a lot of people don’t talk about- is when you’re at this particular age, you’ve got children and you’ve got aging parents and you’re in the middle of that. If you’re sensitive, emotional and connected, then you’re going to be pushed and pulled with that, "I’ve got to take care of my mum and I’ve got to take care of my children, and myself." That is my struggle right now.

Why do you prefer using the Neutrogena 100+ sunscreen? I absolutely love it because it protects the skin so well and I don't break out from it. I use it on my kids too; they love it, and it doesn’t sting their eyes.

How do you take care of your skin when you’re not working? I moisturize it and I don’t wear a lot of makeup. I love hydration just because my skins tends to be dry. And I love eating hydrating foods.

Do you have a favorite lip gloss color? With my skin, it’s the sort of peachy color gloss. I think when I wear a dark color, the angles look harder.

What are your favorite Neutrogena products? The Rapid Wrinkle Repair would be the one that I would say, and the Sunscreen. I love the Ultra Sheer because it’s 100+ SPF. People used to say, "Oh no it doesn’t matter," but it really does matter. And (my skin) doesn’t have a reaction when I used the products.
