As we head into September, cooler temps are right around the corner and we will be living in our favorite jeans again!
In my recent feature for Who What Wear, titled “We’re in Our Fifties and Rely on These Eight Jeans Outfits,” Janet Gunn, The Grateful Gardenia, and I wrote about our must-have denim styles. These favorites have stood the test of time and have become our wardrobe staples. Read on to see our curated styles and how they can be paired with things you already own to create a perfect casual look!
High-Waisted
I love high-waisted jeans for their visually flattering shape and style—and they keep everything in place! For a casual, effortless look, I wear a button-up blouse knotted at the waist. Or, wear these versatile jeans with a classic trench coat, a graphic t-shirt, or a blazer, for a chic put-together look.
Skinny
Skinny jeans that hug in all the right places can be super flattering, giving a longer and leaner silhouette. It’s all about proportion with this style, and pairing them with the right top is key. Skinnies are best worn with a looser-style top or a blazer to balance the form-fitting bottom. I like to cuff them at the hem too!
Straight/Classic
The straight leg style is timeless and basic—wear it with a frayed hem, rippy knee for a cute on-trend look!
Wide Leg
I am loving wide-leg jeans this year and when worn long, they make your legs so long and slender! This look works well with a fitted top for perfect outfit balance.
Boot Cut
I like to wear this comfortable style with a block heel or boot. Pair with a pretty cami and bootie or a lightweight trench or blazer.
Cropped
I love a good pair of cropped denim…this jean style is so easy to wear and shows off your shoes! It’s important to make sure that your jeans crop RIGHT above the ankle, otherwise, it can shorten the length of your leg!
Deconstructed
There’s nothing like rocking a great pair of comfy, deconstructed jeans. Make sure to wear this style with something simple or classic. Pairing them with a designer belt or shoe adds a high-low vibe!
Boyfriend
Always comfortable, stylish, and perfect for neighborhood walks and doing errands. Wear with sneakers or dress them up with a classic leather jacket, and a kitten heel.
Black
As we head into fall, I’m bringing my black denim to the front of my closet! Black on black always looks chic, or contrast with a fresh, white classic t-shirt. I love these shown above with their stand- out button detail (now on sale)!
Skirt
A jean skirt is a great denim basic to have in your wardrobe. It works well with a floral blouse and sandal as well as a t-shirt and sneaker!
