When I turned 45, I found myself squinting when trying to read menus. I quickly went to the drug store and bought my first pair of +1.00 reading glasses and was disappointed at the selection of styles to choose from. After all, I was not ready to look like a granny! I am happy to report that these days, readers come in so many fashionable styles that make them both functional and fab. I'm a +2.00 girl now at 55, and have a nice collection! I tend to wear neutral, oversized frames these days and recently been loving the aviator-style ones too!
Now that so many of us are working from home, it seems like readers are the only accessory we put on all day— whether paired with PJs or our Zoom outfit. I always keep several pairs within arm's length and like to switch them up based on my outfit or mood. Even if you don’t need any magnification, lots of brands have blue light glasses as well, which are so helpful for anyone sitting in front of a screen for a long time.
Read on to see some of my favorite fashionable readers for you to check out and shop at different price points, including the chicest sunnies with magnification. Whether you’re into wearing something classic or trendy, there’s a style out there for you!

Blue Light Glasses
With or without magnification, blue light glasses will keep your eyes feeling great after long hours in front of a screen. They have become super popular lately, which means that there are tons of styles to choose from. I am loving so many styles from Caddis and personally own five pairs…they are so badass! Have you seen their collection? Check out all their styles here!
Basic Readers
Whether reading a menu at a restaurant or a book in bed, I need a basic pair of readers by my side at all times! With so many cute shapes, colors, and styles to choose from now, your reading glasses will be far from basic. Peepers make affordable cool-girl readers so you can buy them in multiples. I also like eyebobs, one of the pioneers for style, comfort and quality. A solid black or tortoise-shell frame is always a good place to start.
Reading Sunglasses
One of my favorite things to do is check my emails or catch up on social media while sitting outside in my backyard, poolside. Luckily, some of my favorite brands have come out with the coolest reading sunnies (shhh…don’t tell)!
Just like shoes, I can never have too many fashionable readers these days. I hope this post helped you find a few pairs that you love too. Please share your favorite styles and brands in the comments below!
