You know this year for me is not about making New Years Resolutions but Manifestations. So, I am super excited for this month’s guest contributor for January, Erika Polsinelli who is a Kundalini Breathwork and Manifesting Mentor, and the founder of Evolve by Erika. Given all the stress in our lives these days, I thought I would share her very special virtual platform that teaches you how to get more clarity for setting goals, shifting your mindset, and manifesting what you want out of your life. I recently had a breathwork session with Erika and it felt so good—just one session helped me feel more calm and centered. Remember back in the day, when fitness was not as accessible and most people weren’t carving out that time to get it in daily? Now it is such a huge part of our culture. We have realized all the immediate and long term benefits of having an exercise routine. With the energy and intensity on the earth increasing, meditation is becoming part of many people’s daily routines in addition to exercise. The times we are living in demand more time to go within, to work on ourselves, to heal emotions from that past and the stress we are dealing with on a day-to-day basis. 2020 has demanded more time with ourselves, and for a very good reason. So in addition to making time to move your body, we should all be making time to dig within, through breath work and meditation.
There is much that is out of our control right now, however, there is a lot more in our power than we may believe. Through methods of self care such as breathwork and meditation, it’s possible to tap into a power within that you may not have even known was there. It helps us in the moment, to think more clearly and become more grounded. It helps us physically, known to slow the heart rate and lower blood pressure. It also helps us to change our perspective on life and even manifest experiences into our life. Through a daily practice we become more grounded, centered, patient, and positive.
Creating a morning routine helps us build and heal the most important relationship, the one with yourself. A morning routine can look many different ways. It can consist of consciously moving with intention, a moment to mindfully sip your coffee, tune into breathwork meditation or set aside time to journal. However, intense times call for intense interventions. It is time that we give ourselves what we need in the morning before the day begins. It is essential that we take time to calm and center ourselves before jumping into our day. Breathwork and meditation is a potent asset in a morning routine and truly helps when the going gets tough.
Breathwork and meditation helps us to activate our vagus nerve which helps to calm our fight or flight responses, helping us to find our center. It also helps to release stress, negative thoughts, and helps us to feel an overall sense of well being. Kundalini yoga and breathwork in particular is a very powerful way to release stress and find your center. In the yogic tradition, waking up early before sunrise is recommended. By doing this, you are tapping into the subconscious brain rather than the conscious mind of all the things that are present in the now; ie, what you need to get done today, what happened yesterday, what you are worried about in the future, etc. By waking up earlier and close to sunrise, you are still in your subconscious mind which helps you to heal and clear any negativity you are holding onto or past traumas, so that you can be clearer the rest of the day. We often respond to experiences in the present based on our past experiences. By waking up and practicing breathwork we are able to respond rather than react. We are able to work through our nervous energy and triggers so that we can handle obstacles and stress in a more grounded and centered way.
By spending time working through all the emotions and feelings that are weighing us down, we are able to elevate our mood and vibration which helps us attract more experience that we want into our life. We can use our mornings to get clear on what we want and help to bring that into our reality.
Some practices you can try on your own to start the new year off right:
Get a journal! Each morning write down all that you are grateful for. To take it a step further, you can then write down all that you are setting intentions for. You can write down all that you want to bring in and welcome into your life.
Take time for long, deep and slow conscious breaths. Inhale and feel the chest and belly rise, filling yourself up with positivity and all that you want to welcome in, then exhale by pulling your belly button towards the spine to clear and release anything up and out of the body and mind.
Let 2021 be the year that you started to take the most important relationship you have first - your relationship with yourself. By giving back to you, and taking care of you, every other relationship will go stronger. Every interaction you have will be more positive. Let us learn from 2020 so that you can be a better, strong you in 2021.

Many clients have come to me saying that they tend to have trouble with mainstream meditation practices, but once they introduce themselves to kundalini breathwork, it’s a complete game changer.
