There can be many toxins in our haircare products that are not regulated by the FDA. In order to be on top of this, I refer to my clean-living product resource, the Think Dirty app to see what’s clean and what’s not. I also recently watched and learned a lot from the documentary “Not So Pretty”. They state, “we take care of our hair with daily shampoo and conditioning rituals, but the absence of industry regulations often puts us in harm’s way.” After watching this, it made me think more about how toxins can enter your system through your skin. So, when you have shampoo and conditioner running down your back, it’s best that it be clean!
Over the past few years, I’ve tried and tested so many hair products to find the best ones that help keep my locks looking silky, smooth, and full. I seek out hair brands that minimize the use of any hormone-disrupting chemicals that are free of any sulfates, parabens, phthalates, synthetic colors, and dyes. Aside from finding the best in clean haircare brands, it’s also important that the products deliver on the things that matter most to me—hydration, thickening, color, and heat protection.

4. RAHUA
Rahua is a rainforest-grown beauty brand with a unique story. Its founder was doing humanitarian work with indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest when he took note of long, shiny, and healthy-looking hair surrounding him. The tribe’s secret to great hair was rahua oil, a key oil used for centuries to nourish the hair and skin of tribe members. Rahua now works with 500+ families in the area to source their hair care and body care products
Rahua products, infused with oil and other plant-derived ingredients, repair hair without coating it or weighing it down. Their hair care line works well for different textures and varying levels of dry or damaged hair. I can’t wait to give Rahua a try!
5. EVOLVH
Evolvh is another brand I cannot wait to test out. Launched in 2009 and made in the U.S., Evolvh products are created for those who care about ingredients as well as execution. As a natural, organic, and mostly-vegan brand, Evolvh products serve a variety of needs.
