Since my daughter Rachel moved to New York City last September, I find myself heading there for visits every few months now! I lived on the Upper East Side for over 25 years before moving to LA so, when I go back there I like to spend time downtown, especially in Soho. For me, it’s a fresh and fun area with tons of great restaurants, shops, sites, history, culture, and more.

STAY
Soho at ModernHaus
Great location, well-appointed rooms with a view, rooftop pool, & well priced (for NYC).
VISIT
World Trade Center
The tallest and I think one of the most important buildings in the Western Hemisphere. This building is the focal point of the Lower Manhattan skyline and home to the One World Observatory. Check out the 9/11 Memorial museum too!
SEE
Oculus
The beautiful Oculus building was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava and is located in Tribeca near the World Trade Center. The Oculus is home to the subway and dozens of retailers. Be sure to check out the shopping, farmers’ markets, art exhibits, and music performances in this area.
