I can’t believe it’s already the end of August and I’m already thinking about fall fashion. This is the time of year when I like to savor every last summer moment! I always seem to get that pit in my stomach during these days because it signifies that it’s time to get back to the normal, more hectic routine. Sound familiar?
Given my love of fashion and being raised in New York, I’m already thinking about some new key pieces to add into my wardrobe rotation--keeping in mind the weather can be quite warm this time of year. So, I decided to put together a list of amazing basics that will make your early-fall wardrobe feel elevated yet doable. These are classic pieces that can be mixed, matched, and worn effortlessly as the days get shorter and the air gets crisper. Even better, everything included in this list is transitional and can easily go from day to night or work to play.

I love this “not so basic” black dress by Michael Stars--the fabric is soft and stretchy, so you don’t have to trade style for comfort. The ruching at the sides gives shape to the super flattering waist. The perfect transitional piece, this dress will take you from day to night. 2. Shirt Dress
Bright Green shirt dress by Into the Night and navy shirt dress by Neu Nomads I’ve been a fan of shirt dresses this year, from bold and bright to classic neutrals. This bright green mini by Into the Night is super cute for warmer fall days since it’s short. If you are more into neutrals, this classic sustainable one by Neu Nomads is perfect—I like to wear it belted with tall boots and some bling! Shirt dresses can easily be styled up or down, depending on your accessories.

3. High Boots
It’s all about the high boots again this season! Wearing these can elevate any look, and I’m definitely going to be pairing many fall outfits with them. They are also super versatile since they can be worn with everything from jeans to dresses and skirts.

4. Trousers and Blouses
These items are an ongoing part of my capsule collection, especially for fall. I always love a good trouser and blouse combo for a more sophisticated look. I like to wear a fitted blouse with wide-leg trousers for balance. Just add a classic leather bag and pumps to complete the look.

5. Oversized Blazer
The oversized blazer is one of my favorite trends of the year and is perfect for cooler nights. It automatically elevates even a basic outfit. I love to style my patterned blazer with a simple slip dress and my solid-colored blazers with a pair of trousers or jeans for a more casual look.

6. Classic Handbag
When choosing the perfect fall handbag to invest in, it’s best to keep the style classic. I like everything from black and neutrals to a bright pop of color. All my bags are fairly small but large enough to hold my daily essentials. A fall bag should be versatile enough to go with lots of outfits.

7. Chunky Jewelry
Chunky jewelry is still trending for fall. I love to add a new piece to my collection each season. Some of my favorite chunky pieces at the moment are gold oversized bracelets, hoops, and chain necklaces or pendants. These statement pieces take any outfit to the next level.
