This is the time of year when I look in my closet to create outfits with some of my existing staples. I’ve carried over some of my favorite pieces from previous years and still wearing these must-haves into 2023. It’s always good to assess your wardrobe and take inventory of what you already have, and then update it with a few new trendier items.
Below are my 5 essential wardrobe pieces that I’ve been living in lately and will carry me through 2023 in style!

1. Platform Booties
I added these black leather platform booties to my shoe collection and have been wearing them on repeat this winter! I love the retro-style and pair them with everything from jeans and trousers, to maxi dresses and skirts. Between the platform, block heel and rounded toe, these boots are the style of the moment and super comfortable.
2. Black Pleated Skirt
Everyone needs a black pleated skirt as part of their capsule collection, and this trend is here to stay. This go-to skirt is super versatile, and the pleats look polished and chic. You can create so many different looks when wearing it, depending on your footwear and accessories. I’ve been wearing mine with chunky boots lately (shown) for a cool-girl vibe.
3. Oversized Cashmere Sweater
Slouchy, oversized cashmere sweaters are a winter must-have. They always look great with jeans, but I love wearing mine with skirts for a modern upgrade.

4. Classic Small Bag
I’m still obsessed with small bags in classic styles—this one is just the right size for a lip gloss, keys, my cell phone, and a few credit cards! Plus, wearing a white bag instead of black in the winter is so fresh!
5. Puffer Vest
I love the elevated look and feel of wearing a faux leather puffer vest. This one is oversized and boxy which gives an edgy twist to a feminine outfit. Puffer vests are super trendy this year and can be worn into the spring—I wear mine everywhere from the gym to dinner!
