When sporting a sun-kissed head-to-toe glow without the harmful effects of UV rays, self-tanning products are my go-to solution. Recently, I’ve been doing a deep dive into the toxicity levels of what we put on our bodies and found that many of the self-tanners I thought were clean in the past, are not! The good news is that I found several nontoxic self-tanning products that have impressed me with their ability to deliver a natural-looking tan while keeping my skin nourished and hydrated.
I love the look of a healthy glow all year round, and a great tan magically improves the tone, texture, and color of the skin while also helping to mask any imperfections. Long gone are the days of baking in the sun to look like a bronzed goddess or using stinky, self-tanners that made us look orange.

These customizable drops can be mixed with any moisturizer or body lotion to achieve a darker shade gradually. With each application, the tan becomes deeper, allowing me to tailor the intensity.

To get the most natural, long-lasting tan, be sure your skin gets some TLC before and after tanning! The most important tip I can share is to exfoliate beforehand to ensure even coverage. I like to dry brush my skin weekly and use Dermasuri’s Exfoliating Scrub Mitt ($15) from head to toe in the shower. Unlike loofahs, this mitt’s unique fabric texture removes surface layers of buildup and dead skin cells. I use the mitt with water, or with my favorite Kopari Beauty Coconut Crush Scrub.
