I like to start the New Year by setting intentions, not resolutions. This year, my main intention is all about finding balance with my work and personal life every single day. Being busy all the time is not healthy, and as my late mother used to say, “there is a time and place for everything!” Working to reach your goals is important but carving out time each day to stay organized, move your body, meditate and practice gratitude should hold equal ground. I find that routines and rituals help me to stay on track, so I am adopting some new ones that are working very well for me, and I thought I’d share them with you. Start by visualizing what you want and then do one thing each week to bring yourself closer to manifesting it. It’s all about taking action with baby steps—and always keep in mind what sparks joy!
Below are 5 ways that have been helping me to find more balance over the past several weeks. I am planning to continue them throughout the year and feel super-charged about it!

1. Declutter
Schedule time each week to Marie Kondo in every area of your life (tackle one project/room at a time). This applies to skincare/beauty products.
How to do this: Start by removing everything in your closet and asking yourself if it sparks joy. If it does not, then donate or sell it if you can. The Container Store has a lot of products that can help you organize. I also think it’s important to do a digital detox by taking a day off social media (I do this on Sundays), unsubscribing to newsletters, unfollowing people on Instagram, cleaning up your photos. Remove all things that don't bring you joy or that take up too much mental space. Click HERE to shop all Marie Kondo Books.
Tip: Every time you buy something, you get rid of something else. My friend and professional organizer Barbara Reich, founder of “Life Organized” offers resources that are helpful to reach those goals. Click HERE to check out her website and HERE for her book, Secrets of an Organized Mom.
2. Create Rituals
Get control of your day before it gets control of you!
How to do this: Create rituals like waking up a half-hour earlier every day, starting the day with a tea or coffee, writing in a gratitude journal, and meditating. Visualize how you would like your day to turn out. Bonus if you can hold off looking at your phone during this time (still working on that one). I also like to “get moving” and do some type of exercise every morning before the day gets away from me. Try working smarter not harder by adopting good habits from resources like, “The 4-Hour Workweek” or the Hoffman Process Habit Tracker. Improve your time management by scheduling your downtime and hobbies like you would a meeting. Cleanse your space by burning sage or palo santo as this sets the day up as a new day. Practice deep breathing upon waking up and sleeping to destress, allowing for more mind space. I implemented half-day Fridays and no social media Sundays last year which helped me quite a bit. Getting a daily nature fix is helpful too!
3. Eat Smart
Try eating clean, organic, non-processed foods most of the time. Reduce sugar. Fast.
How to do this: A good rule is the 80-20 rule where you eat clean 80% of the time. (I allow myself to eat bagels, pizza, pasta, fries and desserts on weekends). If you eat red meat, make sure it’s grass-fed. Eat fresh-water fish, and increase your greens and all veggies. Practice intermittent fasting and find the method that works best for you. If you have a sweet tooth like me, try using Lakanto Monk Fruit sweetener to replace your sugar. SHOP Lakanto Sugar Replacement Products. Use code GLOWGIRL15 for 15% off!
My friend and nutritionist Elissa Goodman is an excellent resource for clean eating, and all things health and wellness. Check out her book, “Cancer Hacks” HERE.
I’m an advocate of taking supplements daily and swear by them to help my body stay balanced. like Thorne’s probiotic for the gut their Theanine for relaxation. SHOP all Thorne supplements HERE for an automatic 20% off.
4. Be More Sustainable
Buy less and pay attention to the sourcing of products. This helps you to narrow down your choices since many brands are still not following sustainable practices.
How to do this: Purchase from brands with ethical practices. Some of my slower fashion favorites include Everlane, Ganni, Alohas, Reformation, Neu Nomads, Boyish, Oliver Logan, RE/DONE, Yes And and Lunya.
Many clean beauty products use sustainable practices. You can see my favorites on The Glow Girl Certified List.
5. Practice Clean Living
Research and use clean, non-toxic products in all aspects of your life including your household products.
How to do this: The Think Dirty App is a great resource to educate you on all of the potential toxins in your household. I also subscribe to the Environmental Working Group (EWG) to make sure I am up on the latest information regarding clean living. I use the full line of Seventh Generation products and find them to be extremely effective. Once you get into cleaner living, it seems like you need less of everything to reach your health and wellness goals.
I also created The Glow Girl Certified List to help women make smart purchase decisions when buying clean beauty and wellness products. See all The Glow Girl Certified lists including CBD, Wellness, Hair, Beauty, Body and Skincare HERE.
