It’s the last day of Earth Month but let’s continue this important initiative and take care of our beautiful planet and ourselves!
Following the celebration of Earth Day and my previous post on Ethical Fashion, I wanted to write about the importance of incorporating clean skin care and beauty products as part of your daily regimen. Over the past year, I‘ve been making an effort to test safer products and incorporate them into my life. My allergies have improved, I feel mentally clearer and physically better, and I know what I am putting onto my body. I do not want to compromise on my health (and neither should you) which is why I am excited to share some of the best clean brands and products that I use and love.
I’ve been following companies that are investing in ‘clean beauty’ - products that are created and produced with ethically sourced, non-toxic ingredients—these are good for us and the planet. Not so long ago it was difficult to find clean cosmetics and skincare brands that were truly clean and effective.

Below is a list of brands which are leading in clean skincare and beauty. Many of the products from these brands included below have provided me with amazing results.
AYR Skincare - Natural skincare line dedicated to offering cruelty-free, non-toxic, and healthy products for all skin types. Two of my faves from the line are the calm facial bar soap and the restore replenishing night cream.
Au Naturale - Incredibly beautiful line of makeup without parabens, animal bi-products synthetics or other harmful ingredients—and perform like top department store beauty brands. I am obsessed with the Rose Gold highlighter (it literally looks great on any skin tone), and the lip gloss in the color Fortune.
Dr. Barbara Sturm - A luxury skincare and wellness line, combining the power of science and natural ingredients formulated by the Dr. herself. Some of my favorite products include the eye cream and her rich moisturizers. Effective, odorless, amazing!
Coola - Using the most innovative, scientifically advanced ingredients that are also as natural, organic, and sustainable, Coola’s eco-conscious formulas are locally sourced with a Farm to Face® philosophy. I regularly use several products from the line including their game-changing spf bb cream, face sunscreen, mineral sunscreen and the coconut spray sunscreen.
Cote Beauty - Toxin free, clean, safe nail polish produced cruelty free. These polishes last over a week and are free of the five major toxins often associated with nail polish. Check out my previous Mani Monday article covering the Cote nail salon in LA.
Fountain of Truth - A full line of clean skincare products made with natural and non-toxic ingredients recently launched by Giuliana Rancic. Faves include the Magic Wand Sculpting Eye Roller and the Insta-Face Lift Elixir. All formulas contain a Super Bio-Ferment technology of botanical ingredients that are effective and efficacious.
Gloss Modern - A minimalist, natural and luxurious haircare collection made from the highest-quality and health-forward ingredients. The shampoo and conditioner are both amazing and the subtle tropical scent is perfection! I love the way my hair looks and feels when I using their products.
Jane Iredale - Nourishing makeup and skincare for a healthy, radiant complexion. My faves from their line include the long lasting eye shadow palettes—the new Solar Flare and the ever-popular Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit. I also love how they are packaged in a very thin case which makes them perfect for travel. A staple in my make-up kit.
Kopari - Produce a full line of coconut based skincare products for the face and body such as scrubs, deodorant and toothpaste that make you look gorgeous with some fo the best ingredients in clean beauty. Most products have the most beautiful coconut fragrance!
I regularly use their nontoxic deodorant (Allure Best of Beauty award 2018), toothpaste, and the Coconut Crush Scrub, also an Allure Best of Beauty winner!Kora Organics - Founded by the lovely Miranda Kerr out of her passion for all things holistic and natural, Kora Organics offers some of the best certified organic skincare products. I recently discovered the line and was blown away by how much I love these products (so much so that I photographed the Sun-kissed Glow Body Oil for this post)! I have so many faves but for starters try the Allure Best in Beauty award winning Noni Glow Body Oil. I also love that the entire line is designed to enrich your skin AND your spirit. Plus, all products smell heavenly including the self tanner!
Olie Biologique - I reached out this company after using their face oils (before it was a thing) and experienced some of the best in clean beauty for the first time back in 2013! Their oils are 100% pure and luxurious and they contain the best botanical ingredients that are proven effective. I loved the brand so much that I personally contacted the Founder to see if we could co-brand a face oil product together. We met and the rest is history—a wonderful friendship and the Olie X Melissa Meyers RoseGlow Drops was born! PYT Beauty - Co-founders Amy Carr and Mary Schulman, best friends since college, created this brand for their daughters. Disappointed by the ingredients found in most makeup products, they teamed up to design effective and beautiful products that were safe for their daughters to use. Their products are clean, natural, and infused with only healthy, beneficial ingredients like Vitamin E and Olive Leaf extract. Best sellers include their neutral eyeshadow palette and Heart Beat cheek color
RMS Beauty - When diagnosed with a serious health condition, Founder Rose-Marie Swift discovered that so many of today’s beauty products are filled with toxic chemical and heavy metals. During her healing process and after some intense research, she created RMS Beauty and became a champion for truly clean beauty. RMS offers natural makeup and skincare made with organic ingredients, and is one of the first in the field to offer colored makeup options that are completely organic. Best sellers include the beauty signature set and beauty oil.
Rutz Naturals - Crafted with “goodness” in mind, these products are reiki-infused to ensure positive vibes and a wonderfully peaceful yet exhilarating experience. Their products are completely non-toxic and formulated using biocompatible, natural and organic ingredients. One of my fave products from the line is the Freeze Frame Nighttime Resurfacer!
Saint Cosmetics - Completely non-toxic and plant-based, this brand carries makeup that’s good for your skin and good for the planet without compromising on durability or finish. Try some of my favorites, such as these eye shadow palettes and lipsticks. Each sale contributes to Interval House, a charity that assists Canadian women and children facing abuse.
Summer Fridays - Founded by two bloggers, Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores Ireland after searching for something with good-for-you ingredients that give skin an immediate selfie-worthy glow. Summer Fridays is all about feeling confident in clear, beautiful skin. These simple face masks are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and will leave skin looking gorgeous.
Tata Harper - Tata Harper wanted to create a skincare line that made women feel as healthy and beautiful on the inside as their skin looked on the outside. After helping her grandmother host home spa parties in Colombia for most of her childhood, she decided to create her own. Handmade in Vermont, Tata Harper's naturally derived and nontoxic products are developed using the world's most advanced results-driven technology while promoting overall health, wellness, beauty and vitality.
True Botanicals - Certified non-toxic, True Botanicals works with top universities like Cornell to develop quality ingredients that are safe yet incredibly effective. Their skin and body products are filled with certified-organic and wild-harvested ingredients . Their goal is to turn your skincare routine into a wellness-infused pampering ritual, all while honoring the earth. I am excited about these products and plan to buy more!
Vita Liberata - In 2011, this brand became the first completely non-toxic tanning brand. Their products are free from parabens, perfume, alcohol and all chemicals of concern. Natural and certified organic extracts are the key to their formulas. This premium organic skincare and sunless tanning products give your skin a flawless finish that combines natural looking color and long lasting hydration. Westman Atelier - Founded by Gucci Westman, famed beauty editor and makeup artist, this brand has consciously crafted cosmetics designed to provide the look of dewy, radiant and healthy skin. Gucci designed the line to be worn as a perfectly curated “makeup wardrobe” that combines luxury living with holistic wellness. Glow Girl faves include Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer and Super Loaded Tinted Highlight.

For now, journey with me into a healthier and more ethical lifestyle. Please note that I am not 100% clean in terms of my skincare and beauty product choices but hoping that some of the “dirty” brands I love will switch over and swap out toxic ingredients for safer ones soon.
