Inside the Movement Medicine Event with Lauren Roxburgh

Last week I was honored to host a ‘Movement Medicine’ private event with goop’s Body Whisper, body alignment expert and best-selling author Lauren Roxburgh. Lauren came to my home in Bel Air, Los Angeles where she shared her knowledge with 30 of my Glow Girl friends on the importance of rolling out your fascia, body alignment and the mind-body connection. Following a short educational talk, we all had the opportunity to experience one of Lauren’s intro to foam rolling classes! Lauren is a gifted educator and teacher who has transformed the lives and bodies of Hollywood’s A-listers with her overall holistic approach to wellness! A portion of the proceeds from the event was donated to the Hirshberg Foundation, a charity that is close to my heart. Read on for more details on this magical day!

Starting with an introduction from Corc Yoga about the benefits of practicing on a cork mat, to an educational talk from Lauren and straight into the hands-on 45-minute foam rolling class, we were reminded of the importance of maintaining our body in all aspects of life.

Named the “Body Alignment Pro” by Vogue, Lauren discovered the power of ‘fascia’, or structural integration, which is a healing system that focuses on the way the human body deals with gravity and stress by focusing on the alignment of the body. When we are busy or stressed, the fascia stores toxins that negatively impact our health (such as acute back pain, anxiety, and poor posture).

After the class we all had a chance to chat, share wellness tips, sample Instant Adaptogen Super Lattes from Kroma, (a new company launched by Lisa Odenweller, the founder of Beaming) and enjoy some delicious gluten-free and superfood muffins.

My friends and I were so excited to learn about the benefits of foam rolling fascia and how it can help with flushing out toxins, connective-tissue muscle disorders, and inflammation. Other perks of foam rolling include elongation of muscles, and a deep release of tension. Yes please!

One of the things I love most about the Instytutum skincare collection is that the brand is solely focused on achieving flawless skin and outstanding results for women of all ages. The products are all formulated without parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, synthetic dyes, or SLES/SLS. This Transforming Melting Cleanser is my go-to every day facial cleanser. I love that it goes on as an oil-based balm that transforms into a silky milk when it touches water.  It deeply cleanses my skin, dissolves all my makeup and hydrates at the same time. The cleanser is formulated with Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, and natural oils that also plumps, and helps renew the skin. There is no other cleanser like this one as it removes all the make-up and debris from my face PLUS it always stands up to my white towel test (use a white towel to dry your face after cleansing and you will see how clean that towel remains).

I like to use the Resurfacing Glow Toner after cleansing my skin a few times a week to chemically exfoliate the surface. This product has a much thicker consistency than other toners (there is no need to use it with a cotton ball-you can pour it in your hand and directly onto your face). I've noticed a visible difference in the size of my pores, appearance of wrinkles, and a more even skin tone since using.

Anti-Wrinkle Brightening C-ERUM & C-Illuminating 3D Moisturizer

The new Anti-Wrinkle Brightening C-ERUM is one of my hero products from the line because it pretty much does it all. This is a super-packed antioxidant serum that goes on like a white silky emulsion and is immediately absorbed into the skin. It's formulated with 15% Vitamin C THD (a very powerful form of Vitamin C). It also contains Niacinamide which stimulates collagen production to reduce wrinkles and skin sagging. My skins appearance is brighter now because the serum actually reduces melanin production so dark spots and discoloration are treated at the source. It also repairs the harmful effects of UV exposure and has anti-inflammatory properties that have visibly diminished the size of my pores and improved the overall texture of my skin. There are so many benefits to using this multi-tasking product so if you were to start with one product from the line, this would be it!

The C-Illuminating 3D Moisturizer is perfect for the days when you are not wearing much make-up and want an immediate glow and dewy finish. This super packed anti-aging formula contains Vitamin C to brighten, reduce hyper-pigmentation, stimulate collagen production, and increase elasticity of the skin. It's also packed with Shea butter, Almond and Jojoba oil, Allantoin, Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, and polysaccharides for anti-inflammatory, anti-pollution, smoothing, calming, soothing, softening, regenerating, and moisturizing properties. You will see and feel an immediate change after use and your skin will feel supple, plump, and intensely hydrated!

The Triple-Action Resurfacing Peel is my favorite product for exfoliation and polishing the skin. I like to use it a few times a week but it's gentle enough to use once a day. The formula has a creamy texture with added micro-polishing beads that resurface the skin surface.  It contains 10% Glycolic and Salicylic Acid, Papaya Enzymes, and Renewing Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E to moisturize, soothe, and regenerate the skin. Using this product is the closest thing to getting a professional microdermabrasion treatment (but much gentler on the skin) and also helps reduce the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores while diminishing the appearance of discoloration and spots for a brighter, smoother, and renewed complexion.

My every day go-to products include Instytutum's Xceptional Flawless Cream and the  Truly Transforming Brightening Eye Cream. I think many of the products are great for men too. My husband Michael is a huge fan of the eye cream and uses it twice daily!
